World Energy Outlook 2009 presented in Copenhagen
11 November 2009
IEA Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka and Chief Economist Fatih Birol presented the results of the World Energy Outlook 2009 (WEO-2009) in Copenhagen on 11 November.
Connie Hedegaard, Minister of Climate and Energy of Denmark, who hosted the meeting, said that the WEO-2009 serves as extremely useful input to the upcoming COP meeting in Copenhagen, because it sets out a means to transform the energy sector with clear analysis on power generation, the transportation sector and energy production, among other areas. She also thanked Mr. Tanaka for channelling the IEA's efforts, as shown in the WEO-2009, to address climate change issues in a detailed and rigorous manner, since taking office two years ago.
