IEA urges use of cogeneration and district energy for global energy security and climate change mitigation
27 May 2009
IEA Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka, together with Dr. R.K. Pachauri of the IPCC, joined several high-level government ministers at the carbon capture and storage (CCS) conference in Bergen/Norway. They cited the urgent need for CCS full-scale demonstration to achieve climate change mitigation goals, and toured Norway’s Sleipner, one of the pioneering CCS projects that has successfully injected CO2 since 1996. For more information about CCS, see the IEA topic page.
