European Business Summit in Brussels

On 27 March, IEA Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka took part in the European Business Summit in Brussels. He took part in a panel discussion entitled ‘The Last Energy Crisis?’. Others on the panel were EU Energy Commissioner Piebalgs, Vagit Alekperov (President, Lukoil), Rob Franklin (Vice President Production, ExxonMobil), Jaroslav Mil (SPCR, Czech Confederation of Industry) and Dr. Erkut Yucaoglu (Chairman & CEO Maps AS; former President of TUSAID). In his speech, Mr Tanaka outlined how the IEA was borne of the first energy crisis of 1973-74, explaining that measures to mitigate climate change can enhance energy security.
