IEA Energy Business Council (EBC)

Industry leaders from 35 global energy companies will participate in the meeting of the IEA Energy Business Council (EBC) which will take place on 18 October 2011 at the OECD Conference Centre under the theme Co-Operating to Secure a Better Energy Future. The meeting will form the opening session of the biennial Meeting of the IEA Governing Board at Ministerial Level and will include participation of industry executives together with Ministers from IEA member countries and non-Member partner countries – Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Russia, and the Republic of South Africa, and Chile and Estonia as candidate countries for accession.

It will be a ‘Davos’ style meeting, chaired by IEA Ministerial Chair, Mr Martin Ferguson, Minister for Resources and Energy, Australia, with a professional moderator to stimulate a frank and open discussion. The agenda includes opening remarks by IEA Executive Director, Mrs Maria van der Hoeven, and a presentation of Dr. Fatih Birol, IEA Chief Economist, on key messages from the IEA’s upcoming World Energy Outlook 2011, followed by debate among Ministers and Executives.
