IEA Executive Director Nobuo Tanaka attended the 30th
Energy Star Award dinner in Washington, D.C. to accept the International
Star of Energy Efficiency awarded for the Agency's globally supported
analysis and promotion of energy efficiency.
Given each year by the Alliance
to Save Energy to recognize deserving companies and individuals for their
outstanding commitment and contributions to energy efficiency, the Star
honors the work of the IEA Energy Efficiency and Environment division,
in particular its global assessment of end uses, including recommendations
such as an accelerated phase-out of incandescent light bulbs. Mr. Tanaka
also met with a number of U.S. officials during his visit to Washington.
Mr. Tanaka is pictured here with Tim Wirth, President of the UN Foundation.
