Mr. Tanaka traveled to Vienna for a courtesy visit with the Secretary General of OPEC, HE Abdalla Salem El-Badri. This was Mr. Tanaka’s first official meeting since taking over as Executive Director and was aimed at ensuring a smooth transition in the relationship between the IEA and OPEC.
Discussions focused on issues of mutual concern, such as the importance of ensuring well-functioning oil markets.
