Pipeline transport includes energy used in the support and operation of pipelines transporting gases, liquids, slurries and other commodities, including the energy used for pump stations and maintenance of the pipeline. Energy for the pipeline distribution of natural or manufactured gas, hot water or steam (ISIC Division 40) from the distributor to final users is excluded and should be reported in the energy sector, while the energy used for the final distribution of water (ISIC Division 41) to household, industrial, commercial and other users should be included in commercial/public services. Losses occurring during the transport between distributor and final users should be reported as distribution losses.
