Financing CCS: Updates on US and EU Developments

Background:	As the IEA’s recent publication "CO2 Capture and Storage: A Key Carbon Abatement Option" describes, there are a variety of approaches that can be used to finance CCS, both for early demonstration and for longer-term integration of CCS into greenhouse gas regulatory mechanisms. Even as the financial crisis continues, two important regions - the United States and the European Union - have begun to take critical steps to arrange for funding for CCS projects. This webinar will explore the various activities that are planned to finance CCS in these regions, including: - Integration of CCS into emissions trading schemes via monitoring & verification methods; - Options for setting aside or allocating allowances (or revenues) for CCS in GHG trading schemes; - Tax credits and other fiscal mechanisms; and - Funding large-scale demonstration programmes.
