Background:

The purpose of this workshop is to share information about best practices relating to indicators development and their use from a policy-making, analytical and statistical point of view. All aspects of energy efficiency indicators, from using the energy balance as a foundation to the development and assessment of efficiency-related policies will be discussed.

The workshop constitutes a unique forum that will bring together policy makers, analysts and statisticians from all around the world to discuss and share experiences on the following topics:

• How are indicators currently being used to support good policy-making and evaluate policy success?
• What are the best practices for the development of policy-relevant indicators?
• Why and how should the necessary detailed end-use energy and activity data be assembled?
• How to identify data gaps and barriers and what are the best practices to address them?
• How to harmonise and bring consistency in energy and activity-related data?

Attendance to this workshop is by invitation only with the aim of having one policy maker, one analyst and one statistician per country.
