IEA Clean Coal Centre

The world's foremost provider of information on efficient coal supply and use, IEA Coal Research - The Clean Coal Centre enhances innovation and continued development of coal as a clean source of energy.

This is achieved by gathering, assessing and distributing knowledge on the energy efficient and environmentally sustainable use of coal, and in particular by:

- undertaking in-depth studies on topics of special interest;
- assessing the technical, economic and environmental performance;
- identifying where further research, development, demonstration and dissemination are needed;
- reporting the findings in a balanced and objective way without political or commercial bias and showing, where appropriate, the opportunities for technology transfer worldwide.

All the above include coal's use with other fuels (such as waste and biomass).

IEA Coal Research is a collaborative project established in 1975 involving member countries of the International Energy Agency (IEA).
