Description The REDP provides large grants to fund renewable energy power generation demonstration projects using various technologies across a range of geographic areas, up to one third of the eligible expenditure on each project.

The grants support the commercialisation and deployment of large scale, grid feeding, renewable energy projects. The REDP opened on 20 February 2009 and applications closed 15 April 2009. Four non-solar projects were announced on 6 November 2009: Two geothermal projects (AUD 90 million and AUD 62 million), one ocean energy (AUD 66 million), and one integrated energy (AUD 15 million) were successful. Two solar thermal projects (AUD 60 million and AUD 32 million) were announced on 11 May 2010.
