A programme to promote energy crops was launched in 2007, promoting the establishment and maintenance of crops for energy use with CZK 3000 per hectare. Crops must be grown specifically for energy use, and must comprise an uninterrupted polot of arable land with an area of at least 1 hectare.

In 2007, 1771 hectares of crops were sown and approximately CZK 5.3 million disbursed.
