Renewable energies are currently being developed. Despite its high energy potential, Mongolia still faces many challenges and needs international cooperation to develop in a sustainable way.

As an initial step of establishing working relations, the IEA attended a workshop on “Northeast Asia energy connectivity” hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ulaanbaatar in March 2015. Energy experts from Mongolia also attended IEA events along with other non-member countries in 2015.
