The International Low-Carbon Energy Technology Platform is the IEA’s chief tool for multilateral engagement on clean technologies between its Member and Partner countries, the business community and international organisations.

Created by the G8 and IEA Ministers in 2010, its activities focus on two axes of action:

• best practice sharing on clean energy technologies and partnership building; and
• creation of technology specific guidance for roadmap development and implementation at the national level.

In its activities, the Platform focuses on technologies that represent a significant proportion of CO₂ reduction potential that are currently not deployed fast enough to allow the IEA 2 degree scenario by 2050.
